![]() ![]() ![]() I thought i had seen a link about using the R232 to my computer directly and then seeing the server web page but i cant seem to find that link / walkthrough anymore. I looked into trying to locate the server via a direct hook up but it requires a program "putty" and doing some shifting around of ip address etc that i just am not familiar with enough to go that route yet. I may move the server back upstairs on the same switch as the player and see if that has any affect. When it worked before briefly, i had the player and the server hooked directly upstairs to an old dlink switch. an input line from basement to the wall port is hooked to the SX and the corresponding output from the wall to the cisco switch. the player is then upstairs in the main room and it is hooked up to a cisco 8 port switch. i have the RK-1 router and i have my modem plugged into the wan and one LAN port then out to the SX-24P16 switch. right now the server is downstairs hooked directly to the packedge switch. ip address'.Īs for the server / player set up. i remembered that the last four number/letter of the mac address and saw portions of it in the scan. I did a quick arp -a scan on my mac and interestingly i did see signs of the server. I did open the front panel of the server and all four discs show blue so they seem to be fine. that may have an affect on the control4 if they used the reservation to set up things but i should be able to see both items on my router i would assume. i have since deleted both reservations in hopes of simply starting over. ![]() I had converted both to a DHCP reservation last night so not sure if that had any affect. literally they were working initially (we were playing a movie last night) and now they arent. The issue is i see both amber front panels on the player and the switch. so i can not really check full activity of the player. ![]() the player is not directly placed into the main switch, instead it is plugged into a switch in the tv room which is fed to a wall port which is then connected to the main switch downstairs. When i look at the router i am able to locate the mac address of my player but can not see the server. appears consistent with the other ports on the switch which i would assume means there is activity. upon logging into my switch and looking at the port the kaleidescape is plugged into, i see receive and send total bytes showing large numbers and i see unicast receive/send also showing large numbers. I located the server to the basement and its plugged directly into the switch. i took them down as i had a complete overhaul and new setup for getting control4 working efficiently, new switches at each main component site in rooms, and getting the pakedge sx24-16 switch and pakedge rk1 routers working. upon initial set up both systems worked fine. I recently purchased the grandfathered kserver 1500 and kplayer5000.
